Kris Boyd is a Scottish footballer who plays in a centre forward position. The twenty four year old currently plays for both his national side and Rangers FC. Boyd is currently the second highest scoring forward in the history of the Scottish Premier League.
Kris Boyd started his senior career in 2000, where he played for Scottish team Kilmarnock FC. Over a six year period at the club, Boyd broke several records, including the most goals scored by one person in a single match when he netted five goals against Dundee United. The player went from strength to strength, and a number of clubs were interested in signing the young player, including several English clubs, but after six years, over one hundred and fifty appearances and sixty three goals, Kris Boyd signed for Rangers FC.
After the undisclosed fee was transferred, Boyd officially signed for Rangers FC in January 2006. In his first season Kris Boyd was an instant hit, scoring twenty goals in twenty one appearances in a period of just half a season! Boyd continued to be successful, and to date he has scored seventy one goals in just over one hundred and five games, and all of that is in two and a half seasons, a truly remarkable achievement. While at Rangers, Boyd has helped the Scottish club to win the 2007-08 Scottish Cup and the 2007-08 Scottish League Cup as well as being runner up multiple times and nearly helping them to win the league. There has recently, unsurprisingly, been some interest in Kris Boyd from more English clubs, but he is set to stay at Rangers FC for the 2008-09 season at very least.
Kris Boyd has also enjoyed an extremely successful international career, too. Boyd made his international debut for his homeland Scotland in May 2006, although he was a regular for the nation’s Under 21 side before making his full debut. So far, Kris Boyd has made fourteen appearances, and has scored seven goals. The majority of the international games played by the centre forward were played in Scotland’s unsuccessful Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, with Kris Boyd scoring in the majority of the games, including scoring two goals against Faroe Islands in September 2006. Boyd has, however, scored in other competitions, including two goals in the Kirin Cup and one goal in a friendly game, but the twenty four year old definitely looks as though he is going to be earning a regular spot in the Scottish side.
